Jesus Christ…

image

Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. On this holiest of holidays, we gather with our loved ones and friends to converse, reminisce and even share a few laughs. It’s a wonderful holiday and one that I hold dear to my heart. Please remember that Christmas isn’t only about opening presents, but also it’s to be thankful for all the lovely things we already have. I wish all of you Peace, Hope, Joy, Health and Love on this Christmas Day.

CHANUKKAH, THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS…

image

The Festival of Lights is once again upon us. When the Jews reclaimed their Holy Temple, they followed the tradition of the Menorah to be lit continuously. With only one vial of olive oil, the Menorah was re-lit with the expectation that it would only last one day. It lasted for eight days. It was a Miracle! And the Jews celebrated!

As I celebrate this wonderful holiday tonight (and the next eight nights), I would like to wish all of you a very Happy and Lovely Chanukkah!

Love,
Rose

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

image

Thanksgiving is once again upon us. It is a time for family, friends and loved ones to gather and celebrate this special holiday.  Whether we travel from clear across the country or just down the street, the meaning remains the same…coming together.

It is also a time to give thanks for what we had this past year and what we will have in the coming year.

Please remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving, gathering around the table and sharing a hearty meal with family, friends and loved ones. It should not be about running out (late at night) to your favorite big box store and snagging a really great deal on a flat-screen television set, the latest computer or other “must-have” electronic devices. Granted, there will be a whole bunch of exciting football games on television throughout the day (and night), but the focus should still be on spending quality time with family, friends and loved ones. However, you can still have the TV set on in the background…quietly.

So whether you’re venturing near or far, safe travels to everyone and, above all, have a Happy (and a Lovely) Thanksgiving!

Love,
Rose

SHAKE IT OFF…

TAYLORSWIFT

“But I keep cruising,
Can’t stop, won’t stop grooving,
It’s like I got this music,
In my mind,
Saying, “It’s gonna be alright”.

Props to Taylor Swift and her hit tune, “Shake it Off”. To all the teenage girls and boys, and even adults, negative comments can sometimes tear us apart.

Do you remember when you were back in high school and if the cute boy or girl didn’t feel the same way, it was the end of the world? Or if your best friend turns out to be not a good friend at all? Well, “Shake if Off!”

In this journey called Life, there is always going to be another door to open, another turn to navigate.

Please remember to be as lovely as you can be and…”Shake it Off.”

Taylor Swift…good job.

Love,
Rose

Oscar de la Renta…

Oscar_de_la_Renta_by_foto_di_matti

Oscar de la Renta, the most iconic fashion designer in the world, was mourned and remembered today in New York City.  The funeral was held today in the beautiful Upper East Side, St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Family, friends and celebrities were all in attendance to say their good-byes.

Most recently, Oscar de la Renta designed the wedding gown of Amal Alamuddin, now known as Mrs. Amal Clooney.

What I loved most is what Oscar de la Renta said when designing her gown, “It’s the most important dress in the life of a woman”. “Any girl from any walk of life dreams of that special dress, and I try to make that dream a reality for her.

Oscar de la Renta, a Lovely fashion designer, will be missed tremendously.

DON’T MISS THE VOTE…

image

We’ve all heard the expression, “Don’t miss the boat”.  Well, on Tuesday,  November 4th, 2014, “Don’t miss the Vote”.  Get out to your local polling place and vote. Be sure to exercise your right and be a part of the long-standing privilege of voting. Polling places open early and stay open late, so no excuses. “Don’t miss the Vote”.

It’s a Lovely way to spend Election Day.

FARM TO TABLE…

farmstand 4
One of the things that I love to do while traveling is to stop at the town’s local farm stand. We were in The Berkshires, Massachusetts recently to see the incredible Fall Foliage and we came across this farm stand that was right on the side of the road.  We actually saw the vegetable garden right next to the home. These vegetables are organic as they come. No chemicals, fertilizers or hormones added.

I made roasted peppers and eggplant with a little bit of olive oil.  What a lovely dish this turned out to be.

Please visit The Berkshires, Massachusetts. It was quaint and very beautiful. I can’t wait to go back.

ONLY IN NEW YORK CITY…

2014 STREET BAND NYC

As I’m walking along Broadway, the sound of music was in the distance.  Wow!  Only in New York City will you find an eight piece band, right there on the sidewalk playing their music. I had to stop and watch, they were that good.

Just lovely.

“CAN WE TALK”…

 Joan RiversNYC FASHION WEEK 9.8.14

This past week  family, friends and fans (including me who was her biggest fan), said good-bye to the legendary comedian, Joan Rivers. I watched her over the years and even followed her on social media.  I still can’t believe that I won’t hear her wise-cracking jokes or her famous “Can We Talk” line.

What would she say about this lovely outfit? She would say something hilarious!

I will miss her dearly and all of my thoughts and prayers go out to Melissa Rivers and her son Cooper. Stay strong. It gets better.

Love,
Rose

A Bride and Taxi Please…

WeddingTaxi 20142 WeddingTaxi 20143

We had a wonderful walk on the High Line a few weeks ago. It was a bright and sunny Friday afternoon.  The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues. There are many places to eat, have gelato and stroll through the many turns of beautiful flowers.

While we were at the High Line, a beautiful bride, along with her groom and bridesmaid, were taking their wedding photographs. She looked stunning. But, then the time came for them to attend their reception. On a late Friday afternoon, in the middle of Summer, it is extremely difficult to get a New York City taxi.

Luckily, her photographer (dressed with his backpack) was doing all the hard work of tracking one down.

Uber car service can be perfect at a time like this when you’re trying to get to your destination. Get a taxi, private car or rideshare from your mobile phone. Uber connects you with a driver in minutes. Uber can be used in cities around the world.

 How lovely would that be?

Rose
